About the Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure

The Brazilian Butt Lift, also known as a BBL or butt augmentation, is a procedure that helps improve the size and shape of your buttocks by injecting fat from other areas of the body. A BBL can increase the volume and improve projection and contour.

Downtime: 2 weeks.

Fat Transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift)

  • Liposuction is used to remove excess fatty tissue from troublesome areas of the body such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, and back.
  • The removed fat is processed to eliminate unwanted oil and other tissues.
  • The fat is then injected into the buttocks through small incisions using a syringe or cannula.
  • The fat is grafted in multiple layers to tailor the shape of the buttocks and smoothly deposit the fat.
  • A compression garment is worn for 6 weeks following your surgery to facilitate healing and to help ensure good results.

What will my recovery be like following butt augmentation?

You will experience some bruising and swelling after the procedure. For the first two weeks following your procedure, you should avoid sitting or putting direct pressure on your butt. After this time, you may attempt a sitting position using a pillow to take pressure off the buttocks. Over the next several weeks you can begin to incorporate more movements and positioning as directed by your surgeon. After six weeks after surgery you may resume normal exercise. Most major swelling should subside after three months.

Is butt augmentation painful?

General anesthesia is used during butt augmentation surgery. You may feel discomfort following your procedure typically in the areas where you had liposuction performed. Post-operative pain is well controlled with medications.

Will my procedure result in scars?

Typically only small access incisions are used, resulting in minimal scarring. These incisions are discreetly placed and can easily be hidden using clothing, bathing suits, or underwear. Scars can be red for the first several months but tend to fade over time with proper care and scar management.

Is fat transfer permanent?

After your surgery, you may lose some of the initial volume placed at the time of your fat transfer. The fat that survives and develops new blood supply is permanent and will provide you with long-lasting results. Typically 50% of the fat injected into your buttocks stays.
