The best candidates for a labiaplasty are women with functional issues due to an enlarged labia, or women with cosmetic concerns. Typically, you may want to consider a labiaplasty if:

  • You experience any discomfort, such as dryness, chaffing or irritation from the excess tissue that hangs below from the opening of the vagina.
  • You feel extremely self-conscious and start experiencing intimacy issues with your partner.
  • You experience difficulty with exercise, hygiene, urinary tract infections, sexual activity or physical activity.

Pre-surgery

Before your surgery, our team will give you a pre-operative packet with a list of instructions in preparation for your surgery. We will spend time reviewing these instructions with you to ensure that you are confident and comfortable before your procedure. Our goal is to provide education and be there for you every step of the way. Patients should be off all blood thinners 2 weeks prior to surgery. We advise strict smoking/nicotine cessation 6 weeks prior to surgery and 6 weeks after.

Recovery time can be variable between patients and surgeries. After labiaplasty surgery, recovery is typically 5-7 days.  We recommend you drink plenty of fluids, eat a healthy diet, and walk as tolerated.

Labiaplasty FAQs

Will a labiaplasty affect my sensitivity?

01

Typically no. In order to preserve normal sensation,  great care is taken to avoid injuring the nerves of the deeper structures. You may have some increased sensitivity in the first few weeks after surgery which should normalize with time.

Can I have a labiaplasty if I plan on having children in the future?

02

You do not have to wait to get a labiaplasty until you are done having children.
